Welcome to The Ledge House

The Ledge House
Enjoy incredible views of the world-famous Harpers Ferry gap from The Ledge House’s galleries, verandas and terraces. The Ledge House B&B sits atop the historical town of Harpers Ferry and overlooks the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers and the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal.

The town of Harpers Ferry has a unique history to explore. From The Ledge House veranda you can see where the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the Winchester and Potomac Railroad and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal raced each other for transportation supremacy in the 1830s.

Visit the ruins of the United States Armory and Arsenal and the site of the famous abolitionist John Brown’s raid. The town is rich in Civil War history having been bombarded by both Union and Confederate troops by surrounding heights.

The town also plays a pivotal role in African American history with one of the first African American colleges and the Niagara Movement (later to be known as the NAACP) in 1906.
